Ivan Posey for Wyoming House District 33 (2024)
House District 33 is winnable for a Democrat, but it requires a very good turnout on the Wind River Reservation. The seat has flipped back and forth for the last two decades. In 2024, Ivan Posey, an enrolled Eastern Shoshone educator, was running against an incumbent and faced challenging family circumstances—several close family members died during the campaign. He persisted.
My role: candidate recruitment, campaign plan, color palette, logo using elements that Ivan chose- the Morningstar and Indian Paintbrush, website, print materials. I also designed a “Commit to Vote” program to collect voter contact information and encourage voter turnout. The ground game was led by community members. That was the right call — and it won.
Outcome: In 2022, Sarah Penn (R) defeated Andi Lebeaux by 11 points. Only 2,000 voters cast ballots.
In 2024, turnout jumped up to nearly 3,000 voters with Ivan garnering 56% of the vote.
